...our 2008 Mitsubishi L300 converted campervan. Named "Bethell" after her maiden voyage - a day trip to Bethell's Beach in the western reaches of the Auckland district - she was a pleasurable purchase from family-run Wheels-4-U Ltd. in the Panmure area of Auckland city. If anyone is beginning their own #vanlife adventure in the Auckland area, we recommend checking in with Mark at Wheels-4-U. He was great to work with and made our experience of purchasing what is technically our first home together, quite uncomplicated.
Beyond being a visual beauty in her own right, Bethell has been an extraordinary travel companion, getting us from the northern most tip of New Zealand all the way to its southern most. Reliable, safe, resilient, Bethell not only serves as dependable transportation, but also as our home. While space is always at a premium when living the #vanlife, she's fairly well-equipped, cozy, and - dare we say - comfortable (enough)! We've fallen in love with Bethell; we think you will too:
Bethell! It's not polite to stare, you perv!
Posing for Campervan Weekly perhaps?
The fuzz can't handle Bethell - not many can.
Not all palms are trees. Not all campervans are Bethell. Look it up!

Even from a distance, she looks amazing!
Flaunting her 'rear gear.' Oh, Bethell!
The only thing that could make Bethell more beautiful, is a beautiful navigator. Fact!
Bethell the evening before her midnight scare at Meatworks Beach (Kaikoura).
Spending the night in Nelson, catching up with an old Kaikoura friend...
...and another one at Lake Pukaki
If you're curious what our experience living in a campervan was like, or perhaps looking for some advice on doing it yourself, check out our post on the do's and dont's of "campervanning." It's probably worth a read even if you're not thinking about joining the #vanlife club. Good clean fun!
If she had to pick, I think she'd be a West Coast girl.
She welcomes all kinds who need shelter
